How the calculator counts
Entrance fees come from the National Park Service data API, park by park, read on September 30, 2026. Where a park lists both a 1-day and a 7-day pass, the 7-day pass is used. Seasonal prices follow the month you pick.
By car, one vehicle fee covers everyone inside. On foot, by bike or shuttle, each person aged 16+ pays the per-person fee; children under 16 enter free.
A pass covers entrance and nonresident fees for one car, or the holder plus three adults on foot. The calculator tries the passes your group can buy and keeps the cheapest.
Not included: timed entry reservations, campgrounds, tours and shuttles. They are paid separately and no pass covers them.
Every visitor aged 16 or older who does not live in the United States, at each of 11 parks: Acadia, Bryce Canyon, Everglades, Glacier, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Rocky Mountain, Sequoia & Kings Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion. It is charged per person and per park, on top of the normal entrance fee. Children under 16 and US residents never pay it.
Do Canadians have to pay the nonresident fee?+
Yes, unless they live in the US. The fee is charged to non-US residents: a Canadian living in Toronto pays it, a Canadian with a green card living in Seattle does not. The same goes for British, Australian or Mexican visitors.
Does the $250 America the Beautiful pass cover the $100 fee?+
Yes. NPS says any valid America the Beautiful pass or park annual pass covers the entrance fee and the nonresident fee for the pass holder and everyone in the same private vehicle, or for the holder plus three adults where fees are charged per person. For two nonresident adults visiting Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon by car, that is $250 instead of $705.
Can a US friend’s $80 pass cover nonresidents in the same car?+
Yes, according to the NPS FAQ: "all valid America the Beautiful Passes and park-specific annual passes will cover entrance fees and nonresident fees for the pass holder and passengers in a private vehicle". The US resident holding the pass must be in the car and show photo ID.
Do fee-free days apply to international visitors?+
No, not since 2026. Free entrance days are for US citizens and residents only. Nonresidents pay the entrance fee and any nonresident fee, even on those days.
Is the nonresident fee charged on tour buses?+
Yes. NPS says it applies to nonresidents in commercial tour groups too, unless they use the Non-Resident Annual Pass. Ask your tour company whether it is included in the price.
Is the $100 charged for each day?+
NPS describes it as a per-person fee at each of the 11 parks, "in addition to the standard entrance fee", not as a daily fee. The FAQ does not say how long it stays valid; the standard vehicle pass it comes with is valid seven consecutive days at most parks. If you plan to leave a park and come back more than a week later, ask at the entrance station.
